Intel pushing dry lithography to the limit

Story posted on: January 29, 2007

We caught up with analyst Rob Enderle after the media pre-brief (you probably saw the other footage we did earlier) and asked him what he thought of Intel's "breakthrough". He said that Intel was able to extend a manufacturing process using dry lithography that was thought to be out of date after the 65nm refresh. An accomplishment that enables Intel to deliver 45nm chips in the second half of this year that otherwise would not have been possible, until probably late next year. Inspite of this technology "breathrough", AMD still thinks to keep the lead for at least a year after the launch of its Barcelona quad-processor. So design prouesse or brute force... let's see who wins this time!
