[PMA Sneak Peak] 6.1 megapixels is more than enough says Nikon

No new products at the Nikon booth. The Japanese company was just showing off their already announced 8 Coolpix cameras as well as a couple of SLRs like the D40x with 10.2 megapixel resolution. I liked the Wi-Fi support built in the Coolpix S50c that allows you to upload up to 2GB of photos to Nikon's Picture Bank service.
It's useful when your memory card is running out of space. Once you're back home you can download the same images at full resolution. This capability also lets you email photos directly to your friends, says a Nikon representative
On the resolution race, here's what the manufacturer has to say,
For many consumers 6.1 megapixels, like our D40, is more then they will ever need. As most of the consumers are going to print 4x6 or 5x7 photos and rarely make prints bigger than that. But there are people out there who wants a higher resolution camera, like a pro photographer that can crop in on the image and still have high quality to do very large enlargements like an 11x17 print.
