HP faces angry shareholders, imposes tough security measures

Story posted on: March 14, 2007

I'm here at HP's shareholder meeting held in Santa Clara. The last time i attended such a meeting was during the proxy fight shareholder meeting held at De Anza College when Carly Fiorina was battling against Walter Hewlett following the Compaq acquisition. After passing by several tough police officers and checking everything but my laptop, a notepad and my pen I went through the metal/cell phone/camera/voice recorder detector - this is worse than airport security... is HP afraid of angry/out of control shareholders/reporters?- "we the media" were treated a bit like pariahs and relegated to the back of the room - next to the exit I guess. Anyway, more specifics to follow on the event.
