HP is big in business intelligence,

We want to continue to be the best BI infrastructure provider [...] HP, along with his partners such as Oracle, Business Objects, Cognos, SAS and others, does 200,000 data-warehousing/business intelligence implementations every year and generate billions of dollars in revenues [...] And It's a big market: about a $50 billion a year growing 10%/year for the next 4 years [...] it also plays to our portfolio, because that $50 billion is made of hardware, servers, storage, software and services. And we happen to have all of those within our portfolio.

Neoview is the next generation of data-warehousing meaning moving from silos of information to an enterprise wide view of the information. Having all the information of the company generates and being able to analyse it [...] Neoview is also addressing the #1 need of the CIO i.e. using information in business intelligence [...] It's been in in development for the last 1.5-2 years [...] It's focused/optimised for decision support and not meant to be a general purpose database [...] Lots of queries, lots of data.

Because there were 4 primary things that were not being addressed by the current marketplace, products and vendors...
- it's cost effective because built on a redeploy-able assets (i.e. Integrity servers that we sell by the thousands and can provide at a very low cost)
- scalable and optimised for mix workloads (no more batch windows): load data and do queries at the same time
- reliable: the days of the data-warehouse that was in a corner where 10 people kind of access it and if it went down or you have to load it or recover or whatever. Well those 10 people were inconvenienced but it did not shut the company down. But if 50,000 can't do any work, it's mission critical
- less complex: we do deliver this machine pre-configured, pre-loaded and pre-tested so it can hit the ground and running in a very short period of time.
