Green is no new fad, says HP exec

Story posted on: June 26, 2007

At last week's HP Tech Forum, VP Americas of storage and servers sales, Mark Gonzalez, noted that this year, HP will recycle over a billion pounds of material. We've actually been to HP's recycling facility in Roseville, CA, this month and will be reporting on that shortly.

According to Gonzalez, HP buys approximately 11 million kilowatt hours of renewable energies and is committed to reducing its carbon footprint by 15% between now and 2010. Moreover, the HP exec mentioned Fortune magazine's "green" survey which named HP tenth of the top 10 of "green giants" in the industry. HP was the only IT companies in that top 10.
