Logitech shows notebook "essential" accessories (video)

Story posted on: June 26, 2007

Today, at Logitech's "sneak peek" preview event in San Francisco, the Swiss company showed its latest line of notebook accessories announced last week in Europe, including 2 notebook stands, the Alto Connect ($80) and Alto Express ($30) as well as a briefcase and a backpack for notebooks under its Kinetik line of computer bags, both priced at $100.
The Alto Connect is a 4-port powered USB hub and a notebook stand with a storage compartment for the USB cable that plugs into the computer, as well as a cable management system for 3 USB cables. It's also "super easy" to take it apart and store it away. Both stands are really meant to be used with an external keyboard and mouse.
It creates that desktop feeling without that clunky monitor, says Sarah Youngbauer (photo), PR specialist at Logitech.

On the other hand, the Alto Express is a super simple stand (It's so simple, I think I should make my own and sell it too!) but big/high enough to store the external keyboard underneath.

As far as the slimmed profile computer bags are concerned, it's the first time that Logitech has done one. They both have a rubberised material case, with plenty of labeled compartments.

The orange in the interior was designed on purpose because if you ever looked into the black interior of a black bag, it's really hard to find anything in there. This is a starking enough difference to whatever you will be putting in here that it's very easy to find.
Another cool feature is that you can slip the briefcase onto a rolling suitcase... ideal when you're traveling. On the backpack, I liked the "stealth pocket" for whatever you want to keep hidden. Most of these will be available in September. Personally, I'll wait for the upcoming roller bag ;-)
