iPhone launch: how Apple "managed" the media (video)
Story posted on: July 02, 2007

It was quite fun to see how the Apple staff "managed" the media crowd, both the "broadcasts"/TVs, the "stills"/photographers and the rest of us (video bloggers and traditional pen-based reporters!). We were lucky to get in with the "stills". But our pen-friend from the Merc wasn't so lucky and had to stay outside... I can't help thinking of how much fuss it was to get into that otherwise pretty "quiet" store... I went back the next day and all was gone... just like a bad dream ;-0
But the most cracking of all was when Apple asked the media not to buy any iPhones unless they actually stand in line... to which one of the cameramen rightly answered... "we can't afford it... we're the media!"... Well of course, there's the media... and the Media... just ask the happy few reporters who got their iPhone comped, before and after the launch ;-)
