Apple redesigns iMovie... much simpler! (video)

Story posted on: August 10, 2007

At the last Apple event, Steve Jobs' unveiled a completely new and redesigned iMovie. The creation of the new Apple movie editor started serendipituously ... at least according to Prophet Jobs who mentioned a "brilliant" Apple engineer who couldn't create in 30 minutes or less, a 5 minutes movie of his vacation to share it with family and friends, using the old version of iMovie or the professional editor Final Cut Pro. So that engineer, "who shall rename nameless" for competitive reasons (or just to keep this idea/feeling of secrecy around anything Apple), created a totally new video editor that is now part of the iLife collection.

Apple did create a new logo for it to show that it is a completely different version. Just like that engineer, I found the old iMovie too hard to use. And I can't wait to get my hands on it. Two other features I like: being able to add a subtitle (perhaps a logo?) on the whole length of the movie, which you could not do before, at least not easily, and the YouTube upload feature as I upload most of the videos on Google's video site anyway.
