Adobe Denies Access of MAX Conference to Reporters. Boycott Adobe!

Story posted on: September 25, 2007

Early this morning (7AM PDT!), I received this Stalinian I-never-heard-of-the-freedom-of-the-press email from Adobe pointing that US-based correspondents were not welcome to attend its Max conference held next week in Chicago. The lame excuse behind that "retrograde" decision is... well... just lame... and shall be met with an unequivocal stand on our part: boycott... at least until Adobe adopts an I-shall-not-try-to-control-the-media attitude.
And don't expect us to sit waiting for your "news" you'll serve us on a press release. We are not *that* kind of reporters/bloggers.
Maybe some of you might think I'm over reacting, but remember that none of the the well respected high-tech companies in the Silicon Valley have ever adopted such a despicable stance... not even Apple! Obviously, someone at Adobe does *not* understand how the *free* Press works!
Hello,
On Sept 30 – Oct. 5th MAX 2007, Adobe’s annual customer and developer event, will be held in Chicago, Illinois. Subsequent International Max conferences will take place in Europe and in Japan this October and November.
In an effort to drive local press attendance to our International Max events we are not extending invites to US-based correspondents for the Max conference in Chicago.
We will keep you informed with up-to-the-minute news of what will be announced at Max Chicago. Should you need additional information or want to talk to a spokesperson that can also be arranged.
Thanks and all the best,
[Name erased]
I will be in Chicago next week, but will boycott Adobe's MAX. But expect a real interesting coverage of one of a kind event. Stay tuned.

Ever since Adobe bought Macromedia (where is the FTC??) they have been treating everybody this way. I encourage users to also boycott Adobe. Can we use your logo with the hammer and sickle? I\'d like to use that on my web site.
