Boingo Global Wi-Fi Access: $8 For Mobile Devices, $40 for Laptops (video)

Story posted on: October 25, 2007

If you own one of the latest Nokia phones or a Windows Mobile smartphone, Boingo has an offer you might find hard to resist. Instead of paying $40 for Boingo's Global Hot Spot plan, you'll only be charged $8!
It doesn't apply yet for the iPhone but Boingo director Jonathan Mendelson (pictured) expects to extend the offer to Apple's phone as soon as the manufacturer releases the software development kit for the device.
The idea behind this promotion is that, unlike laptop users, Boingo does not expect mobile users to stay very long connected at its hot spots. Perhaps to quickly check a map or some emails and then move on. Currently, Boingo's hot spot network is beeing upgraded for the new offer and should be available on a global basis in the next few months.
