Last Week's Über Silicon Valley Insider Trader: Intel's Chief Administration Officer For $22.7 million

Story posted on: November 11, 2007

This is getting actually more fun than I thought i.e. keeping an eye on Silicon Valley's multi-millionnaires! So much that last week I've "preempt" the Merc by pointing out Apple's retail chief $129 million stock sale, although his net gain was only $113 million. Even that is hard to beat, unless you're at Google or... Microsoft! OK, Microsoft HQ is not in Silicon Valley, but the software company still has a quite important presence here with a campus in Mountain View and offices in San Francisco. Anyway, Chairman Gates just unloaded almost 9 million MSFT shares valued over $310 million!
OK, now back to the Valley. Not sure why our friends at the Mercury News chose to highlight Intel Chairman, Craig Barrett, "negative" transaction, selling 200,000 shares when the company's Chief Adminitration Office Andy Bryant, and previously CFO of Intel, sold more than 845K shares for a transaction totalling over $22.7 million! But wait, there's more... Barrett is selling 900K more shares for over $23 million. That should cover his $480K loss the Merc points out!
Then moving on to Oracle's VP of North America Sales and Consulting Organizations, Keith Block, who managed to cash nearly $12 million, and Seagate CEO, Bill Watkins with nearly $10 million. Actually the Seagate insiders are quite active these days. If you have loads of cash now, the housing market is ripe!!!
