Salesforce.com Not Looking At Microsoft Silverlight Yet, Focused on AIR (video)
Story posted on: February 25, 2008

At Adobe's Engage, I tried to get Salesforce.com CEO, Marc Benioff, to talk about some business issues during his Q&A, but to no avail. Questions like: does he still feels optimistic for his company's financial call coming up on Wednesday (financial analysts are worried the company might not hit its financial target) and things like how many shares did he sell today or if he would sell his company at $75 share like my friend Tom Foremski suggested here :-)
The video after the jump.
Unfortunately, after a nice tap on the back brushing my ego about being one the premier business reporter on the planet (thanks Marc!), Benioff shrugged off to answer any "business" related questions to my despair. But he did entertain a question about Silverlight, Microsoft's competitive technology to Adobe AIR. He confirmed that Salesforce, com is not looking at Silverlight for a lack of user demand but will take a peak at it if users' request it... just like Adobe has relationships with Salesforce competitors (SAP and Oracle). Don't forget that Benioff is the alpha CRM/salesperson that will sell whatever customers want to buy :-)
"Today the action and excitement, especially in with interactive user interfaces on the Web remains in the kind of Flash, Flex, AIR area", Benioff said.
