The Week Ahead: Autodesk, Sun and Seagate

Story posted on: February 11, 2008

This week, two large Silicon Valley companies, Autodesk and Sun Microsystems, are hosting their "Media Days". Expect live and after the fact coverage for both events.

- Tuesday: Autodesk's executive management, including CEO Carl Bass and CTO Jeff Kowalski, will be on stage to kick-off the company's "World Press Days", being held at Mark Hopkins hotel in San Francisco. The first day will end with a reception at the "Top of the Mark"!

- Wednesday: While Autodesk's World Press Day is getting to a close, down in Menlo Park, Sun Microsystems will be hosting the International Press for its own "Global Media Summit". There, CEO Jonathan Schwartz, CFO Mike Lehman, CTO Greg Papadopoulos, Don Grantham (EVP, Global Sales and Services), John Fowler (EVP, Systems Group), and many other senior execs will provide us an inside look at the company's strategy, technology roadmap and future direction. The Summit will also include regional break-out sessions, executive Q&As, technology demos, tours of Sun's green datacenter and Project Blackbox, as well as cocktail and dinner receptions. According to Sun's announcement, technology and business trends such as virtualization, eco/green computing and open source will also be addressed during the summit. Although very interesting, I'm afraid Sun's Media Summit will look very much like last week's Analyst Summit. But we'll see.

- Thursday: While Sun's Global Media Summit is wrapping-up will be gearing up for next week's big event: the Game Developer Conference in San Francisco :-)

- Friday: TGIF? Not yet! The Uberpulse team we'll be heading to hard disk drive company Seagate to visit there "services" division. There we'll ask for tips on how to recover from disk crashes, viruses, etc... And the most frequent reasons disks loose data!
