The Week Ahead: Dell Storage Push, Microsoft Accelerates Youth Innovation, Israel Start-Ups in Silicon Valley and the Future of the Electronics Industry

Story posted on: February 04, 2008

It just doesn't seem to stop in Silicon Valley. January went by so fast that I almost missed having the traditional French "galette des Rois". Luckily, the last evening of the month, my wife surprised me with one... Ouf!

Traditionally, the beginning of February starts with 2 major semiconductor events: ISSCC (International Solid-State Circuits Conference) in San Francisco and DesignCon in the South Bay, which doesn't make it easy when you have to go to both!

Here are some of other events that will be attending this week in Silicon Valley:

- Monday: Dell is organising a press event in San Francisco announcing their business strategy in network storage following the close of the EqualLogic acquisition.

- Tuesday: Microsoft is organising a reception at the Computer History Museum to "celebrate the achievements" of the top six Imagine Cup finalists that are spending 2 weeks in Silicon Valley to "to take their software designs to the next-level".

- Wednesday: Microsoft is hosting in its Mountain View campus the Showcase of 15 Israeli startups part of the Israel Web Tour. The Tour is organised by the California Israel Chamber of Commerce and The Consulate General of Israel’s Economic Mission in San Francisco.
After that, we'll head to DesignCon in Santa Clara to attend a Text 100 sponsored panel on the "Future of the Electronics Industry” with representatives from AMD, ARM, Cadence, HP and The MathWorks and moderated by Gartner’s Research Vice president, Bryan Lewis.
