[eComm] Emerging Communications: It's All About Openess... Open Phones, Networks, etc...
Story posted on: March 12, 2008

I'm today at the eComm conference (main hall pictured, copyright James Duncan Davidson) being held in Mountain View's Computer History Museum. The show is focused on emerging communications and promise to give attendees an eye on the future of telephony, the "trillion dollar industry". During the three-day meeting expect a lot of discussions and ideas around "Open Everything" - open telecom networks and handsets that include open software platforms (SDKs) a-la iPhone, OpenMoko or Google's Android, mobile and even landline Internet products/services like IP PBXs, VOIP...
The Wi-Fi connection inside the presentation Grand Hall is spotty at best, so will be the posts about the conference. Interferences are to blame according to the conference A/V team. Keep looking here throughout the next 3 days.
