Sold Out CTIA Wireless Show Opens in Las Vegas Next Week

Story posted on: March 30, 2008

Like many of us in the Bay Area, next week we will be heading for CTIA Wireless, one of largest show for the wireless industry. The main one being Mobile World Congress that happened just last month in Barcelona, Spain.

This year, CTIA Wireless organizers expect more than 40,000 attendees, from over 125 countries, 1,200 exhibiting companies and more than a 1,000 press/media. The show focus spans from new devices, infrastructure, enabling technology, entertainment and business application.

All the 400,000 square feet set aside for exhibitors at the Las Vegas Convention Center, in both the North and Central halls, has sold out. This year, the keynote line up is again top notch starting on Tuesday morning with Robert Bach, president of Microsoft’s Entertainment & Devices division; Sir Richard Branson, founder and chairman of Virgin Group and more locally Virgin Mobile USA; Sprint Nextel’s new President and CEO Dan Hesse; and Lowell McAdam, the president and CEO of Verizon Wireless.

The second-day keynotes include Marco Boerries, EVP of Yahoo Inc’s Mobile division; Vodafone Group CEO Arun Sarin; and an infrastructure roundtable that will include Ericsson President and CEO Carl-Henric Svanberg, Nokia-Siemens Networks CEO Simon Beresford-Wylie, Alcatel-Lucent CEO Patricia Russo, and Nortel CEO Mike Zafirovski.

On top of that, we'll attend Showstoppers and MobileFocus media receptions on Monday and Tuesday evenings. Quite a busy week!
