AD:TECH: Where Madison Avenue Trendies Meet SOMA Geeks! (video)

Story posted on: April 16, 2008

After the super-geeky MySQL conference, I've now joined the crowd of "huppies" here at San Francisco's Moscone convention centre for ad:tech. Now I know what marketing is all about: flashy, cool and just plain beautiful!

No, I'm not talking about the booths at the Expo ground, although that could describe it, I'm referring of the people attending this online/digital marketing event (email/targeted/behavioural/mobile marketing, online search optimisation, metrics, analytics, media buying...)... the biggest ever for the organisers in San Francisco.

Think of it as trendy/creative New-Yorkers meet geeky Silicon Valley. I've been to hundreds of events here in the Bay Area, but this is really the first time I'm really impress by something like this. Not even at the "pseudo-cool" blogging/Web 2.0-ish parties could you see/feel that... It's actually refreshing... like going to New York but without the red-eyes. Anyway, I'll be wandering the show floor, taking lots of pictures and report back in a few!
