[HP Tech Forum] Medis Shows First Consumer Fuel Cell Power Pack (video)

Story posted on: June 16, 2008

At HP's Tech Forum today, I talked with Medis VP of Marketing, Michelle Rush (pictured), about the company's fuel cell battery pack. The Medis 24/7 Power Pack provides portable energy for handheld products specifically for up to about 3 months. But you can not use it to recharge your laptop yet though.
It delivers 20 watt/hour of energy and can recharge a cell phone for 30 hours, a smartphone for 20 hours or an iPod for 60-80 hours. The fuel cell is built by Celestica in Ireland and approved by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), so you can take up to 3 of these on an airplane.
The power pack will be available in stores in a few weeks and available online now at the Fuel Cell Store, MyTreo.net, Savenna for $30 (starter kit) and $20 per recharge.
